CIUDAD Supporting Mechanism – Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Tourism

Facilitation of thematic networking on technical issues and topics that are of interest to a larger number of grant projects is an important line of action throughout the implementation of the CIUDAD programme. Thematic working groups shall bring together professional staff from the CIUDAD grant project partners, their associates and stakeholders from institutions or organisations at national level, and from other networks, projects and organisations that are active in the same thematic area as external partners.

The CIUDAD Supporting Mechanism has already organised and implemented two thematic networking events, one in the context of the first SWEEP-NET Regional Forum on Integrated Solid Waste Management in Beirut in April 2011, and a second one on Energy Efficiency that was jointly organised with the CIUDAD SURE-project on the occasion of the SURE project partners Friedrichshafen (Germany), Salé (Morocco) and Polotsk (Belarus) signing up to the Covenant of Mayors (CoM) in September 2011.
