Call for applications for technical assistance missions: Strengthening the Governance of Culture in Developing Countries
UNESCO is launching an international call for applications for technical assistance missions in the framework of a project funded by the European Union, aimed at strengthening the system of governance for culture in developing countries.
These missions will be based on the needs and priorities of the beneficiary countries and will be undertaken by top experts in the field of cultural policies. The missions will support the beneficiary countries in their efforts to establish legal, regulatory and/or institutional frameworks and/or introduce policies that address the role of culture in social and economic development, particularly through the cultural industries.
Which countries can apply?
All developing countries party to the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural expressions that are eligible beneficiary countries under the EU thematic programme Investing in People can apply. The neighbourhood partner countries that can apply are Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Egypt, Georgia, Jordan, Moldova, Syria,Tunisia, and Ukraine.
Who can apply?
- Ministries, public institutions and public agencies in charge of culture or having a direct influence on the governance of culture, from the developing countries above;
- Local public authorities from the developing countries above, if the field of activity to which the project is related has a direct impact on the governance of culture. Impact can be on a local or national level.
Initially the Project will have two deadlines for submission of applications for technical assistance missions. To be eligible for consideration, applications must be received by the UNESCO Secretariat no later than:
30 April 2011 (midnight, Paris time)
or
30 June 2011 (midnight, Paris time)
