Strengthening the role of civil society in promoting human rights and democratic reforms: EU launches call for proposals in Tunisia
The European Commission has launched an open call for proposals for a budget of €1.000.000 in Tunisia in the framework of the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) and the Neighbourhood Civil Society Facility, under the reference EuropeAid/132-901/L/ACT/TN.
The overall objective of this call is to support civil society initiatives that promote Tunisian citizen action and guarantee human rights in the context of democratic transition, especially in disadvantaged areas.
The specific objectives of this call are:
1. Promoting diversity, tolerance, and citizenship, through the strengthening and enhancement of cultural activities, including those targeted to youth and children.
2. Supporting social, economic, cultural and political inclusion of people from vulnerable groups.
3. Contributing to the constitutional reform process, through the recognition, proposal and inclusion of private and collective interests of minority and marginalised groups of the Tunisian population.
Any action under this call for proposals must promote activities throughout the Tunisian territory and particularly in urban and rural disadvantaged areas, and support and strengthen gender equity and women's rights.
The deadline for application is 11 June 2012.
An information session on this call for proposals will be held on 27 April 2012 at 10.00 at the EU delegation to Tunisia. Representatives of organisations applying for this call are invited to register before 19 April by writing to Delegation-Tunisia-IEDDH@eeas.europa.eu.
