European news portals

A number of portals carry news, features, analysis and commentaries on EU policies and developments, with useful information and ideas on possible stories. 

 

Europa: The EU site on which you can find the Commission's daily press releases, database, agenda, calendar of events, newsletter and a connection to Europe by Satellite (EBS). Europa Press centres: A section on the Europa site with direct links to the press rooms of all the EU institutions.

 

Europa Media libraries: A section on the Europa site with direct links to the media libraries of EU institutions, offering videos, photos and audio files.

 

EU4Journalists: A site especially designed for journalists with background detail and essential information on the EU. It included news, dossiers on newsworthy topics, a basic guide to the EU and where to find information and a contacts guide (EU languages).

 

EU-Observer: Run by a non-profit organisation, it provides news on the EU. You can subscribe for the news that interests you and receive daily e-mail alerts (English).

 

EurActiv: A media portal dedicated to EU affairs. It covers key stories, carries analysis of policy topics, compiles dossiers and has profiles and interviews (English, French and German).

  

EuroNews: The portal of the television news channel EuroNews, covering world news from a European perspective in a choice of eight languages (Arabic, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish).

 

PRESSEUROPA multilingual website containing articles on EU affairs drawn from the European and international press, and covering various domains: politics, economy, society, world, environment, sciences, culture, ideas, etc. The website was launched in May 2009 by the European Commission and a consortium led by Courrier International.  

 

EUBusiness: An online business information service about the EU providing daily news and information about EU policy, legislation and economic data (English).

 

European Voice: The online version of the weekly newspaper published by the Economist Group, covering EU affairs. Not all articles are available for free.

  

Euro-Correspondent: A network of freelance journalists focused mainly, though not exclusively, on EU and European affairs.

 

ANSAMed: A newswire set up by the Italian News Agency ANSA available in Italian, English and Arabic. Every day ANSAmed produces some 150 news items, covering the most important events occurring in or involving Mediterranean countries and transmitted via satellite or internet to registered clients.

 

E!Sharp: A portal with contributions from journalists, columns, web specials and other information on topical issues.

 

Newropeans-Magazine A non-commercial independent political web-magazine developed for the exchange of views on the future of a democratic Europe. Contributors are volunteers coming from a broad range of cultures and countries. In English and in French.

 

TheParliament.Com: A news portal covering numerous policy areas, the Parliament magazine, a press review, a research review and a regional review as well as interviews and events (English).

The World Press Review looks at issues and debates dominating the world's newspapers and magazines. It draws on publications, has a network of correspondents in many countries, and features real-time headlines from newspapers around the world.
