Multi-country cooperation instruments: CBC, NIF, TWINNING, TAIEX, SIGMA

The EC supports the reform and transition processes underway in the EU’s neighbouring partner countries through proven and effective cooperation instruments: TAIEX, Twinning, SIGMA and NIF. These powerful tools facilitate the enforcement of the agreements between the EU and the Partner Countries.
 
These instruments ensure practical transfer of European know-how, supporting the partners upgrade and modernising of their institutions. They promote approximation to EU law and policies, enhance co-operation, economic integration and democratic governance, and cover a number of fields including trade, energy, environment, education, health and research.

EU Cooperation with Syria is currently suspended due to the political situation in the country; however, since in principle Syria is eligible for cooperation under the ENPI, activities may be taken up again once the situation improves.
