EIB and Tunisia sign partnership for a logistics platform

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and Tunisia have signed a partnership contract for the development of a logistics platform, in the framework of the Logismed initiative implemented under the Facility for Euro-Mediterranean Investment and Partnership (FEMIP).

The contract will provide technical assistance for the creation of the platform including the economic feasibility study, a market research study with a logistics needs assessment, the preliminary design, the environmental impact study, a study of economic and financial viability of the proposed solution and alternative solutions as well as a defined institutional framework and the procedure to be followed for the development of this platform.

The study is scheduled to start in April 2012 and is expected to take 240 days.

Referring to this new partnership with Tunisia, Philippe de Fontaine-Vive, Vice-President of the EIB, said that "it gives a concrete expression to a unique and efficient partnership that reflects the choices of the new Tunisia including that of aligning with international standards in terms of logistics and better meeting its’ partners expectations.
