Every drop counts: water cooperation in the Neighbourhood in pictures
24-05-2012

With some 3000 people gathered in Brussels this week to discuss water related issues, the EU Neighbourhood Info Centre has put together a photo gallery illustrating EU cooperation with its neighbourhood partners in the field of water.
Under the banner 'The Water Challenge – Every Drop Counts', water is the theme of the 12th edition of Green Week, the biggest annual conference on European environment policy, taking place from 22 to 25 May 2012.
Over some 40 sessions, the conference will focus on water. This valuable resource needs to be used properly and sparingly, making sure that we have enough for all of its uses, and avoiding polluting our rivers, seas and oceans.
Reducing environmental risks and pollution, along with promoting the sustainable use of natural resources, are key goals for the European Neighbourhood Policy. The challenges related to the scarcity of water and environmental degradation need to be tackled at national and regional levels to ensure the sustainable development of the region.
Most projects related to the use and preservation of water resources in the neighbourhood support the objectives set out in the EU Water Initiative (EUWI).
With 33 photographs illustrating EU cooperation in the field of water across the neighbourhood, from Morocco to Azerbaijan, the EU Neighbourhood Info Centre's photo gallery highlights the impact on the ground of actions on water across the partner countries.
High resolution photos can be downloaded and used free of charge for non-commercial purposes in contexts that illustrate the European Commission's cooperation work, provided the copyright, as identified in the caption information, is acknowledged. (EU Neighbourhood Info)
